An IV is inserted in a vein (usually in the arm) and patients are seated in a comfortable recliner during and after the infusion. Once the immediate effects wear off, the patient is discharged home. Patients must have a companion to get them home.

Intranasal Ketamine:

Esketamine (Spravato) may be administered by spraying the medication into the nose. The effects are similar to administering the medication intravenously. Once the immediate effects wear off, the patient is discharged home. Patients must have a companion to get them home.
